Defy the Odds and Grow at the Leicestershire County Show
Posted: Tue 31 March 2009
Despite the economic situation, the Leicestershire Agricultural Society is continuing to go from strength to strength and have announced today the launch of a brand new feature section at the 167th show. “The Leicestershire County Show has backed local producers through their Farmers’ Market, for well over three years now, and we now feel it is the right time to launch our own Smallholder, Self Sufficiency and Horticultural feature area” explained the Show Director, Liz Earle. “Visitors are wanting to know about growing and raising their own produce and meat, and so we have called these two new areas “Gardeners’ World” and “The Good Life”, not very original however you instantly know what they are all about!.” To celebrate the launch, the show has hired the Gardeners Question Time road show, and have companies like Jimmy’s Farm, British Pig Association and hopefully the Battery Hen rescue Association on hand to help and advice visitors. This is in addition to the competitions, children’s education activities and stand holders that are all here to make this a great area. The society is now under new management which shows through the launch of a new website, photography competitions, canine competitions and horticultural competitions as well as encouraging the visitors to leave feedback on the show with the chance to win £300! And that’s even after they have allowed FREE entry for children, this year! In addition to this, they are also inviting traders to book into the feature areas “Gardeners’ World” or “The Good Life” for £50 (usual price £120) into the feature marquee, or £100 (usual price £200+) for an outdoor stand.” For details about the competitions, FREE child entry or to enquire about a trade stand visit www.leicestershireshow.co.uk or Tel: 01509 646 786. *** END *** Notes to Editor: Further information: Liz Earle, Show Director.
