Farming is about food and as such we have an amazing line up in and around the food hall.  Housed in a huge marquee with Celebrity Chefs, Beer Tasting, Wine tasting and a Children's Cookery School, to name but a few, this mouth watering selection will leave a lasting gastronomic impression. Simple scroll through the vast array of culinary delights that await to tantalise your taste buds.   

  

Showcasing the Best of the County

The focus point off the food hall will showcase the very best in produce from around the County. The region food and drink producers truly represent the ethos of Leicester Agricultural Society. Working

closely with Leicestershire Food Links this core area is a delight and customers can sample and take home of the finest gastronomic delights.

Leicester County Show

Beer of the Year

Yes you the public have the excuse to sample a full range of beers and vote for you perfect pint. Representing the very best that Leicestershire has to offer you can mark each of the beers against a number of criteria and help select the winner.  We have an independent adjudicator who will oversee the judging and collate the scores. The award will be presented on Monday 3rd May.

A small surcharge applies and all proceeds will be donated to charity.

 

 

 

 

Beer Tasting

Understand the gastronomic qualities of beer, how it's made, what affects the taste and which food it suits best. Men and women are both welcome, however, this session tends to be dominated by men! Why not use this as an opportunity to “leave the other half” shopping and come along and taste some of the Country’s finest real ales we have on offer. Naturally, you have the opportunity to try before you buy, and don’t worry about purchasing too much, we will help you carry it to your car. This session is free of charge and is open to any person over the age of 18 years.

  

  

  

  

Celebrity Chef

Cookery Demonstrations

An opportunity to sit down, relax and listen to the running commentary from celebrity Nigel Brown  as he prepares and cooks the food. A chance to pick up helpful hints and tips for hosting your own dinner party and impress your friends and family at home. There are demonstrations going on three times a day and Nigel is also available after the demonstration to answer any questions you have.Nigel Brown runs an exclusive cookery academy in Lincolnshire and has appear a number of times on Ready Steady Cook. As well as being the resident chef for BBC Humberside, He has a distinguished career working alongside people such as Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Wine Tasting

Take part in these wine tasting sessions. An excellent opportunity and excuse (if you really need one!) to “try before you buy”. Come along and taste wines from all over the world and learn how to recognise a good wine to become a wine connoisseur – learn the skills so that you can impress your family and friends. Aimed at both beginners and experts; The beginner's session is an opportunity to learn the basics and all are welcome. The advanced session is specifically aimed at those of you with a basic wine knowledge and will marry discerning tastes with exquisite wines.

 

  

  

  

  

  Cooking with Spice

Get handy hints and tips on cooking with spices from the chef and then have the opportunity to buy the spices from him so you can create that fabulous meal yourselves. The session is free and is aimed at all ages, so do not worry if you are not an expert Chef as the aim is to provide you with the ingredients, skill and knowledge, so you can impress your friends and family.

 

 

 

 

Children's Cookery School

 

Make “N” Bake area - This popular attraction offers children the chance to make Jam tarts from scratch and then they can take them home and force feed them to the grandparents (finger nails and all !!!!!). Suitable for children of all ages, they will feel like a real Chef's. Aprons and Chef's hats are all provided, and after they have washed their hands the fun begins. This activity provides a great photo opportunity as the children very often end up covered in flour. This activity is free of charge and normally run two or three times per day. Sessions last approximately 40 minutes. Please note: children must not be left unsupervised without agreement of the area supervisor.
